Alessandra Corona

 

Alessandra joined Michael Mao Dance in the summer of 1996 while a principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico,. In 1999 Alesaandra was invited by Michael Mao to be part of the original cast of Michael Mao’s FIRECRACKER® as “Phoenix” in the grand pas de deux. After having served as senior dancer for 14 years with Ballet Hispanico, Alessandra toured to Europe for Fosse. She rejoined Michael Mao Dance in June 2011, appearing in Andante Amoroso. In Spring of 2012 she will be featured in Mao’s Migrations (1994) which Alessandra performed in 1996. Currently Alessandra is developing her own show, “Dinner with Alessandra” to tour in Italy and Spain this summer.


A native of Sardinia, Alessandra was trained at the National Ballet Academy in Rome. She was Principal dancer with the contemporary dance company of Renato Greco and Vittorio Biagi o Italy. On Italian National TV(RAI 1), she was a regular on the live weekly show , Gran Premio and Europa Europa, directed by Gino Landi.


In the US Alessandra was principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico for over 15 years under Tina Ramirez. She created many leading roles for the company, performing throughout the USA, Europe, as well as their New York seasons at the Joyce Theater.


Miss Corona appeared as a guest artist annually at the international gala '"Notte di Stelle" in Italy.


She performed at the New York City Center for the Encore series in the musical " No Strings" directed and choreographed by Ann Reinking.


In the Summer 2003 she danced at the Santa Fe Opera Theater.


Recently she completed a two year international tour of the musical "Fosse" directed by Ann Reinking  Now she regularly performs as a guest with different dance companies.


For several years she taught Ballet , Modern, Jazz, in Italy and the US for different University and dance studios.


She danced many time as a guest with Michael Mao dance company of New York

She is also a Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Trainer in New York City.
